M / O T H E R

A development from a previous project that looked towards memory and the uncanny, my current work looks to the Mother as the ultimate uncanny being. Tying in death drives, wombs equivalent to tombs, and castration theories, the body and metaphorical of the figure is a monstrous yet biblical being.

This project is rooted in psychoanalytical research- both original documents and their criticisms, aiming to encompass a feminist position somewhere within it all, that celebrates the maternal body while questioning its ties to birth, life, death, and re-birth.
